Love for JA Brings Couple Together

When Julie Speer volunteered to team teach a JA program at Niagara Wheatfield High School <> , she had no idea she would meet her future husband. Justine Januszkiewicz, education and public relations manager at Junior Achievement of Western New York <> , recounted how JA brought the two lovebirds together.Kevin Schucker is a long-time JA teacher who has always had the same volunteer teach JA Company Program each year. Last year, JA of Western New York Senior Education Manager Alycia Ivancie convinced Kevin to try the new JA Career Success <> TM program, and he agreed.[JA Career Success Cover]Meanwhile, Alycia was working with some volunteers from Niagara County Community College <> (NCCC) to place them in classrooms in the fall of 2013. NCCC employee Julie Speer and a couple of her co-workers wanted to team-teach, so Alycia worked on finding them the right placement.Julie and her co-workers tried a few different classrooms in the fall, but none of them seemed to be the right fit. When the holidays came around, they decided to wait until the second semester and try again. This just happened to be the same time that Kevin?s class was looking for a new volunteer.Sparks flew, and Kevin and Julie began dating shortly after she started volunteering in his classroom. They got engaged this summer and plan to marry in July 2015.
